A combined edge AI vision development kit for local image acquisition, defect detection and model inference. The NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16 GB computer is paired with a compact UVC USB industrial camera. The CS-mount lens focal length is confirmed against the intended field of view and working distance for each installation. Detect defects from day one — no training dataset required. Most vision systems can't deliver value until thousands of labeled defect images have been collected. The NA8247 works differently. It ships with NARA's proprietary inspection engine, which starts detecting surface and print defects on the first day of installation using rule-based computer vision and unsupervised anomaly detection: the system learns what a good part looks like from normal production and flags anything that deviates from it — runs, pinholes, craters, scratches, blisters, misalignment, color drift and more — with parameters tuned on-site by a NARA technician. From rules to deep learning, automatically. While the kit runs, every capture is stored on the edge and in the NARA cloud in a training-ready format. The built-in NARA Dataset Collector uses a vision-language AI agent to pre-annotate images with bounding boxes, which an operator confirms or corrects in seconds. Once the dataset reaches training readiness — tracked live per defect class — a YOLO-based deep learning model is trained and deployed to the same device, accelerated with TensorRT. The kit gets more accurate the longer it runs, with no interruption to production.
